I recently bought this refrigerator and placed it in my covered screened in back porch. Neither the sun nor rain can get to it. This frig works fine in 95 degree heat. The coldest setting is 7 but I set it to about 5.5 which keeps the freezer at 0 degrees and the refrigerated compartment at 40 degrees. I keep a temperature gage in each compartment, basically to satisfy my OCD! I only keep ice in the freezer and drinks on the other area. The sides and doors are steel and the top is plastic. I taped screen on the lower back side vent holes to keep bugs and lizards out of the compressor area. The little ice tray that came with it is in my recycle bin. Amazon sells better ice trays. This is a great little refrigerator.
